Klangforum Wien & PPCM Students in Peter Ablinger Portrait Concert

The long-standing educational partnership between Klangforum Wien and the Performance Practice in Contemporary Music (PPCM) programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) will present a portrait concert of works by Peter Ablinger. The event takes place on January 30, 2026, at 18:00 in the Ligeti-Saal at MUMUTH Graz.

For over 15 years, Klangforum Wien’s “collective professorship” model within the PPCM instrumental programme has been dedicated to passing on the ensemble’s deep knowledge of contemporary expression and playing techniques to a new generation of musicians. This concert is a direct outcome of that pedagogical mission.

The programme features three works by the Austrian composer and conceptual artist: “Kyrie after Machaut,” the “Kleine ‘Publikum’ Suite for 2 ensembles and 2 conductors,” and “The rain, the glass, the laughter.” The performance by PPCM students and ensemble members will be conducted by Jack Sheen and Edo Micic, with sound engineering by the IEM. Video material will provide further insight into Ablinger’s creative world.
